iCUREs at the West campus of ASU

We are developing authentic research projects for all of the students in our majors in the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences.  We are including Applied Computing, Applied Math, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Forensic Science, and Statistics majors in our projects.  We have developed modules to study wild bees in the Sonoran desert, capsaicin content in hot peppers, remediation of mine soils using plants, Sonoran desert microbiology research, and persistence of latent forensic evidence.  This is a truly interdisciplinary team of Jennifer Broach (statistician), Jennifer Foltz-Sweat (ecologist), Jennifer Hackney Price (developmental biologist), Kimberly Kobojek (forensic scientist at DPS), Pamela Marshall (geneticist), and Ken Sweat (plant biologist).

For copies of presentations or any information about our projects, please contact a member of our team or visit this website for the workshop we presented.  All of the videos from the 2021 workshop are also available on YouTube.

iCURE News!

The iCURE Team has collaborated extensively with colleagues from Phoenix College. Phoenix College professors with the iCURE Team as collaborators was recently awarded a Hispanic Serving Institution IUSE to develop and assess CUREs for both majors and nonmajors at community college.  We look forward to continuing to work with our colleagues at Phoenix College to expand STEM research based projects embedded in courses.   Recently, members of the iCURE Team participated in this conference.
