Yeast In the K-12 Classroom

Yeast is a versatile organism to use in the k-12 classroom for a variety of activities. This is an activity we have done in elementary school looking at yeast and sugars they utilize. Students first taste food sugars and artificial sweeteners to decide which will cause the yeast to grow the most, as evidenced by gas production into a balloon.
