Undergraduate Research Opportunities in The Marshall Lab

So You'd Like to Perform Some Undergraduate Research

Here are some steps to follow if you'd like to perform undergraduate research with Dr. Marshall or other faculty at ASU.

  1. Find out what everyone is doing in their research lab. Look for their website, go to Google Scholar and read their papers, walk around the building and read their posters, talk to them about their research, check out the Provost's website.

  2. Once you have narrowed down what research you are interested in, contact them for a meeting. In that contact email

    1. explain why the research is of interest to you and why you'd like to do research.

    2. describe your career goals.

    3. send your transcripts (ASU faculty don't have access to transcripts).

    4. send your resume or CV.

  3. Start early, typically in the very early fall for a spring spot and early spring for a fall spot. Spots fill up very fast. Just because the schedule says a faculty member is has 499 spots, doesn't mean the faculty member has the room in their research group.

  4. Check out ways to be supported, such as NCUIRE and WAESO.
